What are Positronic Hermetics
Positronic Hermetics is a flange with circular feedthroughs and D-Sub connectors adapted on both sides, which is required for the thermal vacuum chamber. In such a chamber, the environmental conditions in space are simulated (pressure and temperature) and the satellites are tested for various functionalities, which must be monitored electrically for optimum data protection. A connection is made to the satellite with the actual connectors on the satellite, whereby the cables must be routed out of the chamber. This is done via the flange, which uses a special sealing process using a NASA-approved epoxy resin.
The D-Sub connectors used are designed to withstand the conditions in the thermal vacuum chamber and thus ensure reliable data transmission. It is important to note that one flange is always required per satellite.
